Electronic Distinguished Lecturer Program
View and Listen to Selected CAS Distinguished Lecturers on the Web
We are pleased to announce that selected CAS Distinguished Lecturers are now available for download from the CAS web site and can be viewed and heard on your own computer. We are initiating this program with super presentations by Prof. Gabor Temes, Oregon State University and Dr. Chung-Sheng Li, IBM Watson Research Center. More interesting and informative lectures are on their way!
The CAS Society has initiated a pilot project to electronically distribute lectures with the objective of making the Distinguished Lecturer Program more accessible to all of our members. Now you can download and view lectures at your convenience.
The lectures are in a slideshow format accompanied by voice annotation by each lecturer. These presentations were generated using Microsoft PowerPoint and a plug-in called Hotfoot. The presentation is packaged as a self executing file which can be viewed by anyone with a browser and Microsoft Windows Media Player installed. There is no need for you to have MS PowerPoint or Hotfoot installed on your system. Proceed to the bottom of this web page to download the lectures. Please be patient when downloading, as the files can be quite large.
Here are the system requirements:
- MS Windows computer w/ multimedia capability
- Web browser – MS Internet Explorer (preferred) or Netscape
- Windows Media Player – only Windows streaming audio format (ASF) is supported
- Unfortunately, these lectures are not supported on Apple or Unix platforms at this time.
Here are some useful links:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Windows Media Player
