Alexandre Mercat received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) of Rennes, Rennes, France, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. He has been a Postdoctoral Researcher with Computing Sciences, Tampere University (TAU), Tampere, Finland, since 2018. His current research is mainly focused on video coding, real-time implementations of the next-generation video coding standards, complexity-aware video coding, video coding for machine, AI, and immersive media applications (VR/AR/MR/XR). He is an author of 40+ peer reviewed publications since 2014 in the domains of video codec, image and signal processing applications, AI, and approximate computing. He received the Best Open Dataset and Software Paper Award from ACM MMSys’20 Conference. He is member of the IEEE Visual Signal Processing and Communications Technical Committee (VSPC-TC). He has served as a member of the technical program committee of SAMOS and SiPS international conferences. Since 2021, he is the creator and co-editors of the Insights from Negative Results track in JSPS.
