Dr. Liang Dong is the Vikram Dalal Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Director of the Microelectronics Research Center, and a Faculty Scholar of the Plant Sciences Institute at Iowa State University.
He earned his Ph.D. in Electronic Science and Technology from Tsinghua University in 2004 and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before joining Iowa State in 2007. Dr. Dong’s research focuses on developing sensor technologies to address challenges in the water-energy-food-health nexus, aimed at enhancing food security, precision agriculture, and health.
His contributions have earned him honors including the NSF CAREER Award, multiple best paper awards, and finalist recognitions at major conferences and in journals. Since 2018, he has served as Editor-in-Chief of Sensors and Actuators A: Physical. Dr. Dong also co-founded EnGeniousAg, a startup commercializing nitrogen sensors, which was acquired by CropX in 2024.
