Mario R. Casu received the laurea degree summa cum laude in electronics engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electronics and communications engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy, in 1998 and 2001, respectively. He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of the Politecnico di Torino.
His current research interests are Systems-on-Chip with specialized accelerators, System-level design and design methodology for FPGAs and ASICs, and Embedded Machine Learning. He is also interested in the design of circuits, systems, and platforms for industrial applications (biomedical, automotive, food); in this area he recently worked on contactless sensors and electronic systems to assess food quality and co-founded Wavision, a startup that develops this business using microwave sensors and AI-enhanced electronic systems.
He authored or co-authored more than 120 scientific papers and has two patents.
