Maurizio Valle (MV) earned his Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering in 1985 and his Ph.D. in Electronics and Computer Science in 1990 from the University of Genoa, Italy. Since December 2019, he has served as Full Professor of Electronics at the Department of Naval Architecture, Electrical, Electronic, and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Genoa, where he leads the Connected Objects, Smart Materials, Integrated Circuits (COSMIC) Laboratory. Professor Valle has overseen numerous research contracts and projects funded at local, national, and European levels, as well as by Italian and international companies. He is the co-author of more than 260 peer-reviewed papers published in international scientific journals and conference proceedings.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE and an active member of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) and the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society. He also serves on the technical committees for Biomedical and Life Science Circuits and Systems and Sensory Systems within IEEE CASS, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the IEEE Journal on Flexible Electronics. His research interests encompass biomedical circuits and systems, electronic/artificial sensitive skin, tactile sensing systems for prosthetics and robotics, neuromorphic touch sensors, and advanced electronic and microelectronic systems.
Professor Valle has served as Guest Editor for several IEEE special issues, including: Selected Papers from ISCAS 2019 in IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems; Special Issues on AICAS 2019 and AICAS 2020 in the IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems. He has held prominent roles in international conferences, including: General Chair of the 6th International Conference on System-Integrated Intelligence (SysInt2022), Genoa, Italy; Technical Program Co-Chair of the 2nd IEEE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Circuits and Systems (AICAS 2020), Genoa, Italy; General Chair of the 26th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems (ICECS 2019); and General Chair of the IEEE New Generation of Circuits and Systems (NGCAS 2017). Additionally, he served as Track Chair for Physical Sensors at the IEEE Sensors Conferences in 2017 and 2018.
