Dr. Pi-Cheng Hsiu is a Research Fellow (Professor) and Deputy Director of the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI), Academia Sinica, where he leads the Embedded and Mobile Computing Laboratory, and is also a Jointly Appointed Professor with National Taiwan University, Taiwan. Upon receipt of the Ph.D. degree in computer science and information engineering from National Taiwan University, he joined CITI as an Assistant Research Fellow in 2009, and was promoted to an Associate Research Fellow in 2013 and to a Research Fellow in 2018. He was a Visiting Scholar with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007 and with the University of Pittsburgh in 2019. Dr. Hsiu is honored with the title of Academia Sinica Scholar for the term spanning from 2024 to 2028.
Dr. Hsiu’s current research interests include embedded systems, HW/SW Codesign, and tiny machine learning. His research on intermittent TinyML has been awarded the Best Paper at IEEE/ACM CODES+ISSS in 2020 and 2021 consecutively, and nominated for the Best Paper Award in 2019 and 2023. He was a recipient of the Fulbright Senior Research Award in 2024, Academia Sinica Investigator Award in 2024, NSTC Outstanding Research Award in 2022, and FAOS Young Scholars’ Creativity Award in 2019. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Artificial Intelligence (TCASAI) and the ACM Transactions on Cyber-Physical Systems (TCPS), as well as the Special Sessions Chair for the IEEE/ACM Embedded Systems Week (ESWEEK) 2024. He has served as a Track Chair for IEEE/ACM DAC, IEEE/ACM ISLPED, and ACM SAC and on the Technical Program Committees of many international conferences in his field.
