Abdullah Baz received his B.Sc. (2002) and M.Sc. (2007) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UQU and KAU, respectively. He later earned a second M.Sc. in Communication and Signal Processing (2009) and a Ph.D. in Computer System Design (2014) from Newcastle University. Throughout his career at UQU, he has held various positions, including the Vice-Dean and the Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, the Vice-Dean of the Deanship of Human Resources, the General Director of the Decision Support Center, the General Director of the Data Management Office, and the Technical Consultant to the University Vice President. Currently, he is a full Professor in the Computer and Network Engineering Department. Prof. Baz has authored and published a number of books and over 100 manuscripts in high-impact journals, including IEEE Transactions, IEEE Access, IET, MDPI, Springer, and Elsevier journals. His research interests span data science, big data, ML, AI, VLSI, EDA/CAD tools, intelligent transportation, computer systems and architecture, smart systems, and smart health. Since 2015, Prof. Baz has served as a Review Committee Member of the IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS) and a member of the Technical Committee of the IEEE VLSI Systems and Applications. In 2017, he was elevated to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. Prof. Baz is a member of the Flexible and Wearable Circuits and Systems Standards Committee of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CAS/FWSC). He served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS-2023), a member of the Technical Program Committee for the IEEE Nordic Circuits and Systems Conference (NorCAS-2024), and a guest editor for the Electric Vehicle Networking and Traffic Control Special Issue in MDPI's World Electric Vehicle Journal. He also served as a technical reviewer for most high-impact factor journals and international conferences in his research area.

With over 25 years of experience in the computer systems industry, he has held a diverse range of roles, including system developer, database administrator, system administrator, system architect, system designer, circuits designer, IC designer, and technology architect. He has acquired numerous national and international professional certifications and completed training in areas such as cryptography, OS & DB administration, planning, TOGAF, strategic leadership, cloud computing, system development, and analog/digital circuits/systems design. The hardware and software products he successfully implemented have served many public and private organizations worldwide, including Umm Al-Qura University, Taif University, Al-Noor Specialist Hospital, the Emirate of Makkah Province, the General Directorate of Public Security, several Pilgrims Companies, Newcastle University, Imperial College, and Manchester University. The software systems he developed have processed hundreds of millions of records, covering areas such as payroll, student admissions & registrations, accounting, budgeting, and medical data. He possesses expertise in hybrid systems with multi-backend and extensive external integrations. He demonstrated an ability to enhance business quality and decision-making process through intelligence.
