Description

Thanks to the advanced semiconductor technology, integrated circuits ICs technique not only favors one’s daily life but also impacts the research of medical and biomedical sciences. Biomedical instruments are realized in a miniature, automatic, fast and affordable fashion these days.
Based on the insight of biological systems such as neural systems, biomimic ICs aim to mimic the mechanism of biological systems in order to reach superior performance over traditional computers. Examples include real-time audio and image signal processing and adaptive computation of biomedically sensed signals. Moreover, biomimic ICs serving as the neural prosthetic device is an active research topic worldwide. Successful implementations of cochlea implants and retinal prostheses on silicon-based technology have been reported and commercialized.
This summer school features the combination of lectures, discussion forums and hands-on projects, analogous to the annual cognitive neuromorphic workshops in Telluride for the American region and in CapoCaccia for the European region. The goal of this summer school is to provide an opportunity for researchers and students from various fields who are interested in bio-inspired system and prosthetic device to gather and come out with some new ideas.
