IEEE CASS Charles Desoer Life Science Systems Student Attendance Grant
The IEEE CAS Charles Desoer Life Science Systems Student Attendance Grant is established to support outstanding students who have demonstrated excellence and a strong commitment to life science systems. The grant aims to encourage continued contributions to life science systems research and innovation.
The application deadline is September 21, 2025.
Winners will be notified by October 9, 2025.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the IEEE CAS Charles Desoer Life Science Systems Student Attendance Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• The recipient must be a current IEEE and IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CAS) student member at the time of application.
• The student must have an accepted paper at the current year’s BioCAS Conference.
• The applicant must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in engineering or a related field at an accredited college or university.
• The award is intended for individual students, not groups or teams.
• There are no restrictions based on age, nationality, or geographic location, ensuring global diversity in the selection process.
• Members of the Award Committee and individuals involved in the selection process are not eligible to receive the award.
All eligibility requirements must be met at the time of application submission, and recipients must remain in compliance with IEEE and CAS membership requirements throughout the award process.
Prize
The prize allocated may be up to $1,900 annually. The award committee may select multiple winners and split the prize equally among them or may choose one winner. The allocation will cover student expenses associated with conference attendance – expenses may include, but are not limited to – registration, transportation, hotel, and meals.
Certificates will be provided to each winner.

Notification
Recipients will be notified after the BioCAS author notification deadline (varies depending on the conference timeline). The recipients must submit their expense reimbursement before December 31 of the year they receive the grant.
Selection/Basis for Judging
Paper content quality, originality, significance, quality of presentation, impact. Preference will be given to work that aligns closely with life science circuits and systems.
