A request for sponsorship of a lecture by one of the CASS Industrial Distinguished Lecturers must be made by a local sponsoring organization with direct involvement and approval of the corresponding CASS Chapter Chair. Chapters are strongly encouraged to make use of the CASS iDLP to enhance their member benefits. Although lectures are mainly organized to benefit existing members and Chapters, they can also be effective in generating membership and encouraging new chapter formation.

Chapters are strongly encouraged to make use of the CASS iDLP to enhance their member benefits. Although lectures are mainly organized to benefit existing members and Chapters, they can also be effective in generating membership and encouraging new chapter formation. Interested parties should submit the iDLP Request Form.
Based on the interests of its membership (e.g., a benefiting organization in the region covered by the Chapter), the Chapter Chair approves a topic and a lecturer. A representative of the benefiting organization and/or the Chapter Chair shall contact the lecturer directly and work out preliminary details of the visit (chapter event, date, location, name and affiliation of the benefiting organization, lecture topic, expected number of attendees, etc.).
After the visit is approved by the iDLP Chair, the lecturer is contacted to finalize the arrangements. The lecture should be open to all members of IEEE. The Chair is expected to publicize the event in the chapter or section newsletter and/or by special mailings to all members of the section. The event must be announced as "sponsored by the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society under its Industrial Distinguished Lecturer Program", and the lecturer should be mentioned as a CAS Industrial Distinguished Lecturer. If other IEEE societies or other organizations have offered to support this chapter activity, then proper acknowledgment of them should also be made.
No honorarium will be paid to the iDLP speakers.
Immediately following the event, the Chapter Chair should send a summary report to the iDLP Chair. It will help with a timely process of reimbursement.
Following the event, the lecturer should complete the IEEE travel reimbursement via IEEE Concur.
If chapter officers require additional reimbursement, they should contact the iDLP Chair for instructions.

The event must be announced as "sponsored by the Circuits and Systems Society under its Industrial Distinguished Lecturer Program", and the lecturer should be mentioned as a CASS Industrial Distinguished Lecturer. Speaking engagement arrangements are subsequently made by the benefiting organization directly with the Industrial Distinguished Lecturer. Sharing of expenses between the benefiting organization and the CASS Society is encouraged. For example, the benefiting organization could provide local transportation and/or accommodation for the Lecturer.
All trips must be approved in advance by the Industrial Distinguished Lecturer Program Chair.
Each Industrial Distinguished Lecturer may present a maximum of three DLP talks each year.
CASS Society will reimburse Industrial Distinguished Lecturer's travel expenses for approved speaking engagements up to $2,000 per domestic engagement and up to $2,500 per engagement for presentations to CASS Chapters on a continent other than the speaker's home continent.
Submit an expense report via IEEE Concur to claim the DL expenses.
Each IEEE CAS Society (IEEE-CASS) chapter will be allowed a maximum of 4 DLP lectures per year (combining DLP and iDLP events).
Chapter Event Expense Responsibility:
iDL Travel - covered by the CASS iDL Program
Local Cost (transportation, accommodations, meals, etc.) - covered by the local chapter organizing the DL event
*Student Branch Chapters cannot host a DL event. Please contact your parent CASS Chapter.

The objective of the CASS iDLP program is to support local sections/chapters of the CAS Society in inviting and organizing a technical seminar onsite presented by one our iDLP experts in the circuits and systems fields. Usually, these seminars are not tied to any IEEE workshop or conference. However, if a DLP seminar is to be held in conjunction with a planned IEEE-sponsored workshop, then the following policy must be enforced.
If the workshop is not sponsored or co-sponsored by the IEEE, then the iDLP activity may not be held in connection with the workshop.
If the proposed CASS iDLP lecture is to be held in conjunction with an existing IEEE sponsored workshop, then this must be clearly pointed out by the Host and reflected in the email request that the Section Chair sends to the iDLP Chair to obtain approval for the iDLP lecture.
If the aforesaid workshop is free to all IEEE members (students and full members), then upon approval of the iDLP Chair, the iDLP lecture may be held as part of the workshop program and announced as such.
If the workshop charges attendees registration/attendance fees of any amount, then the proposed iDLP lecture cannot be held as part of the workshop program. Instead, the iDLP lecture must be held as a separate event, possibly taking place in conjunction with the workshop. This means that in all announcements, calls for participation, etc. related to the workshop and the iDLP lecture, this separation must be clearly maintained and pointed out. In such a case, if the iDLP event is approved by the iDLP Chair, then the workshop organizers may charge attendees for the workshop, yet keep the iDLP event open and free to all IEEE members. Furthermore, if the iDLP event is to take place during the normal workshop proceedings, then no workshop track or session may be held concurrently with the announced iDLP lecture.
The responsibility to advertise and announce the iDLP event lies with the local Section/Chapter Chair and the host, and not the workshop organizers.
No honorarium is allowed for the iDLP event itself. Although the host is encouraged to provide financial support to pay for part of the lecturer’s expenses that may not be covered by the iDLP program.
