Digital Signal Processing Technical Committee – Recent Activity (2015-2016)

The members of the Digital Signal Processing Technical Committee (DSPTC) of the IEEE Circuit and Systems Society have been very active all along and 2015-2016 has been no exception.  In this report, we highlight the members’ technical activities in various areas of interest to the CAS society and DSP research community. The members participated very actively in ISCAS 2016 as summarized under item 2. They have been involved in various capacities in a large number of conferences as detailed under item 3. Eight books/book chapters have been authored/edited by the TC members as listed in item 4. A total of 29 plenary and invited lectures in international conferences, workshops, universities and industries, have been given by members of the TC as outlined under item 5. Sections 6 and 7 of the report summarize the various editorial and IEEE services carried out by members of the TC. The DSP TC has technically co-sponsored 5 conferences and workshops as provided in item 8. Of particular note is that many members of the TC have made special effort to support the IEEE International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP2015) by taking an active role in the organization committee, serving as special session organizers and making technical contributions. The conference organization team led by Dr. Y. C. Lim has organized DSP2015 as a major technical activity of the TC. Additional activities carried out by members of the TC are highlighted in  9. Finally, the report ends with awards, distinctions and news from members of the TC obtained in 2015-2016.

1. DSP TC Meeting

The 2016 DSP TC Annual Meeting was held during ISCAS-2016 at Montreal on 23May 2016 (Monday), 12:00-13:00.   The meeting introduced a new member, Dr. Fengbo Ren, and discussed several issues like new track structure for ISCAS 2017, curated list of publications in the annual report, Review and selection of ISCAS2016 papers in DSP track

2. ISCAS 2016

The IEEE ISCAS 2016 was held during May 22-25, 2016 at Montreal, Canada. Tapio Saramäki, Mrityunjoy Chakraborty and Wei-Ping Zhu served as the DSP Track Co-Chairs for the review process of  ISCAS2016 submissions. A total of 98 papers were submitted to the DSP track. Based on the review comments and RCMs’ recommendations, the track co-chairs initially accepted 55 papers which were built into 8 lecture and 3 poster sessions. Finally, the Technical Program Chairs accepted 45 papers in DSP track, which along with a few other papers moved from other tracks were built into 9 lecture and 2 poster sessions. This corresponds to approximately 48 % rate of acceptance. The following 38 DSPTC members served as Review Committee Members (RCMs) for the DSP Track:
