Abstract

With the rapid growing demands on data transmission and processing in a world of big data and artificial intelligence, the power consumption of the information industry sees an exponential increase. Per-core dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) supported by fast-transient fully-integrated voltage regulators (FIVRs), is proven to be an effective way to improve the energy efficiency of digital systems. Meanwhile, the supply voltage accuracy and transient droop on a large-area XPU, are essential for improving the overall system efficiency, calling for distributed and easy-scalable voltage regulation solutions. This talk will introduce our recent advances on FIVRs, including switching-mode as well as digitally-controlled linear low-dropout (LDO) regulators.
