Abstract

Industry 4.0 signifies a transformative era in manufacturing, marked by
automation, connectivity, and real-time data insights. This talk highlights the “Factory in
a Box” (FIAB) toolkit, a versatile platform developed at RMIT University in collaboration
with DMTC and Sutton Tools. The toolkit integrates open-source hardware (Raspberry
Pi, XBee, and sensors) and software tools (Node-RED, MQTT, Grafana, PostgreSQL) to
enable real-time monitoring, data analytics, and process control in smart
manufacturing. Participants will gain hands-on experience with the FIAB toolkit,
learning to implement Industry 4.0 technologies while exploring their critical role in
circuits and systems for industrial digital transformation. The talk bridges the gap
between theoretical concepts and industrial applications, directly aligning with IEEE
CAS’s interests in networked systems and IoT-based automation.
