The Semiconductor Industry in Latin America: Current State, Perspective, and Opportunities
Presentation Menu
The semiconductor industry in Latin America is expected to grow in the forthcoming years, driven, among others, by the demand from the regional electronics industry, the automotive industry requiring semiconductors for electric vehicles, IA, and government digitization initiatives that demand specific hardware. The growth will be also driven by the opportunities emerging in a semiconductor industry that is being reconfigured globally, as well as evolving trade agreements. Main opportunities are for local design houses working on ASICs for a global market, with several examples operating at the present. Also, in back-end ATP (assembly, testing, packaging) services, as more semiconductors are manufactured in the hemisphere. However, the lack of local investment in a non-traditional industry, global competition, and logistics, are significant challenges.
In this presentation, we will explore the current situation of the semiconductor industry in Latin America, reviewing its history and identifying the main development hubs and current companies operating in the sector.
Next, we will analyze the perspectives, opportunities, regulatory framework, and regional and global initiatives where the region can integrate itself to contribute to the semiconductor industry value chain.
