Dr Chi-Tsun Cheng (Ben) is an Associate Professor in the Manufacturing, Materials and Mechatronics discipline under the School of Engineering at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. He received his BEng and MSc degrees from the University of Hong Kong in 2004 and 2005, respectively, and his PhD degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2009. During his PhD studies, he was a recipient of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship.

 After completing his PhD, Dr Cheng was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Calgary from 2010 to 2011. He then served as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2012 to 2018 before joining RMIT University.

 Dr Cheng serves as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II, IEEE Access, IEEE Open Journal of Circuits and Systems (OJCAS), IEICE Nonlinear Theory and Its Applications, and IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Newsletter. He is a Senior Editor for the IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems (JETCAS). He is also an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE. Dr Cheng is a member of the IEEE Nonlinear Circuits and Systems Technical Committee and the IEEE Power and Energy Circuits and Systems Technical Committee.

 Dr Cheng's research interests include Wireless Sensor Networks, the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 Technologies, Cloud Computing, and Additive Manufacturing. He served as the Chairperson of the International Workshop on Smart Sensor Networks (IWSSN) from 2012 to 2018 and the track co-chair for the IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS) in 2018. Since 2023, he has been the RMIT's representative in the Executive Council of IoT Alliance Australia.
